LUNCHTIME PLAY READINGS

Experience large scale theatre on our intimate stage. In 2017, we’re presenting readings of two classic plays that we’ve always wanted to produce, but haven’t had the physical space to stage. Details regarding the 2017 plays will be announced in mid-February. The Foyer Bar will be open from 12pm, with cheese plates and drinks available for purchase.

DIRECTOR AT WORK – BOOK NOW!

For experienced or aspiring directors, this is a unique opportunity to venture behind closed doors and observe our directors at work. You will observe a rehearsal followed by a discussion session with the director.

AUTUMN ENSEMBLE STAGES PLAY READING – BOOK NOW

2017 BACKSTAGE TOURS 

Enter through the stage door, explore the dressing rooms, see where the actors prepare and make your own grand entrance onto the stage from the wings. Discover where the nuts and bolts of the theatre come together and gain an insight into how the technical aspects make the magic come alive. Stay tuned for our 2017 dates.

The winner of the 2016 Ensemble Theatre New Writing Commission is THE PLANT by Kit Brookman. Ensemble Theatre will be performing THE PLANT from 08 May 2017 – 05 August 2017.

SANDRA BATES DIRECTOR’S AWARDS – READ MORE

Ensemble Theatre welcomes the successful recipients of the 2017 Sandra Bates Director’s Awards – Francesca Savige and Sean Rennie. Selected from a large and extremely competitive pool of applicants, Francesca and Sean will take up the position of Assistant Director working with different directors on two of Ensemble Theatre’s mainstage productions. In addition, they will assist in the delivery of Ensemble Theatre’s Boatshed program such as lunchtime play readings.  Submission dates for the 2018 Sandra Bates Director’s Awards will be announced mid-2017. Stay tuned for details regarding the application process.
