Richard Langridge's THE ACT is a rediscovered classic from an age of wit, dark humour and intelligent dialogue. In unlikely circumstances, a comedy double act must face the Gestapo and perform a routine they haven't written, all the while battling stage fright and their own demons.

With a dynamic combination of music hall comedy, powerful writing and a gripping story, THE ACT delves into world history and celebrates the enduring nature of friendship.

"I first read THE ACT maybe thirty years ago and it left the most powerful impression on me. What it’s about basically is friendship and the lengths that people will go to for a really good friend. It’s such a powerful, moving play and I am blessed with a stunning cast."
DIRECTOR SANDRA BATES

"Directed by Sandra Bates, this well-staged production features excellent performances from Daniel Mitchell as Frink and Mark Kilmurry as Hansen. They are wonderfully attuned to each other and give a deeply felt, moving portrayal of friendship and courage in the face of horror. Brian Meegan is chilling as Steiner and Michael Ross is quietly convincing as a gaunt valet." Sunday Telegraph

"Profound, intelligent and beautifully written…..thought provoking and thoroughly engrossing to the end." ArtsHub

"Brian Meegan is chillingly good…The Act stands up as a compelling, moving example of the heights and depths of humanity" Oz Baby Boomers

"Under the inspired direction of Sandra Bates, the excellent cast give terrific performances of this disturbing, challenging and very moving play…There is a sense of unease, a sense of eerie mystery…Daniel Mitchell is superb…extremely powerful - Lear like and gripping…..Mark Kilmurry is marvellous…with perfect comedy timing…. Captain Steiner is excellently played by Brian Meegan, charming on the outside but underneath evil and destructive." Sydney Arts Guide

"Daniel Mitchell and Michael Ross give their characters a depth that stays with the audience long after the show" City News/City Hub
